This was by far our favorite place to stay in all of Iceland! Aesthetics were off the charts perfect, easily walkable to many amazing restaurants and shops. They have a restaurant attached but they were going through renovations at the time so we didn’t try it but even the free breakfast was amazing. The host and staff were so kind, we got snowed in and they had no issues with us extending our stay and recommended things to do in town. Free minibar snacks and drinks, the room was so cozy and quiet and even had heated bathroom floors. And the bathroom products smelled amazing! Can’t recommend it enough! It is a must if you are in Akureyri!!
This family-run hotel is found along the Ring Road/Route 1, 8.7 mi outside Akureyri. It offers a hot tub, sun terrace and views of Eyjafjördur. Wi-Fi and parking are free.
Located in North Iceland’s main town, Akureyri, this budget summer hotel is a short walk from the city center and the Eyjafjördur Fjord shore. Free parking is offered on site.
Nice place to stay while visiting sites in North Iceland.
Nice place to stay while visiting sites in North Iceland. We were able to see the Northern lights while there in early October, but our lodging was slightly out of the main city lights. Nice restaurants and easy to walk around. Botanical garden was a very nice place.

Great place for a day trip, or two.
Great place for a day trip, or two. Limited eating options (compared to Reykjavik). The lagoons (Forest lagoon / Myvatn) are worth a visit. There are of course also some nearby waterfalls. There's a fantastic petting zoo which is definitely not to be missed.

Nice small city . Surprisingly bug infested in late summer.
Nice small city . Surprisingly bug infested in late summer. Wonderful sights nearby. Very few free parking lots . Dettifoss was awe inspiring. There are steam venting sites worth visiting. There are crevasses separating American and European plates you can walk across caves and crevasses where Game of Thrones was filmed . Restaurant 23 is a great fish restaurant

Akureyri is a beautiful little town in N. Iceland.
Akureyri is a beautiful little town in N. Iceland. Super picturesque, at the base of a fjord. We booked a whale watching tour with Keli Sea Tours and saw humpback whales.
Everything is walkable and there are some great restaurants, especially Strikið, where I had the best piece of salmon I have ever eaten.
The botanical garden is free and beautiful. The kids loved the little Christmas house on the edge of town.
If you are driving the ring road, you must stop here!

We was looking for local food but no one. we could find only pizza, burger, fried chicken restaurant. And we was found food truck which owner is very rude, we not recommend there but anyway bakery at the corner was very good.
We were offered to bid on a room upgrade prior to arriving - I liked that. We did have a winning bid and got a deluxe room (basically a bedroom & living room area separated by a TV) with a separate shower and toilet/sink areas behind the bed. Everything was pretty comfy and decent quality.
The included breakfast was pretty good, albeit with not enough variety.
The location of the hotel was great - walking distance to downtown, the pool, and it had parking included, which the other main downtown hotel lacked.
Favourite hotel that I stayed in during my Iceland trip. Full length glass windows with views of mountains in the distance. 2 bedroom Suite – Master bedroom and smaller room with 2 single beds. Beds were so comfortable and quilt was fluffy and warm. Suite had private soaking tub overlooking snow capped mountains 😊
There was a kitchenette and barbeque grill – it would have been lovely to have a BBQ in the midst of this beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Hotel had a good buffet breakfast spread.
Our stay at Hotel Sveinbjarnagerdi was absolutely wonderful. The location is just a 10 minute drive to downtown Akureyri but it feels like you’re in the countryside. The rooms are cozy and clean with a great view of the fjord. Breakfast and the facilities were great! Hop in the hot tub and chill in the sauna! The price can not be beat for what you get. The best part was the wonderful family who owns and runs the hotel. They were lovely and generous like everyone we met in Iceland. Highly recommended.
The hotel is in a very central location which makes it ideal for exploring Akureyri and surrounds... while the room we were given on checkin had a great view of the Fjord, it would have been a little cramped for three nights... we checked with reception and they gave us a great option for a larger room without the view... front desk staff were very helpful with all questions during our stay and restaurant was also good for dinner (though their are many options in the surrounding streets)
Nice family run hotel on a working farm outside of Akureyri. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The structure housing the guest rooms is a converted sheep shed, which lends some novelty. Dinner was standard fare (lamb and Arctic Char) but very good. The breakfast was also sumptuous and tasty. View from hotel room looking out on the pastoral landscape was relaxing. Potential exists for relaxing outside but the weather was not permitting during our stay.
Location. Very quiet and close to a small village with a restaurant. When we arrived we saw some small whales close to the harbour.. amazing! The cabin had everything we needed and was already cozy and warm when we arrived. The hottub is a nice bonus after a long day of hiking and driving. Nice oasis close to Akureyri!
The room was spacious with great bathroom and kitchen. It was easy to cook breakfast and prepare coffee / tea for a day of exploring the surrounding areas. Clean and with a nice view to the commercial center of the city. The location was great, close to the city's shops and restaurants.
The apartment is well located - a few steps away from a parking lot, beside several restaurants and a very good cafe. It's in the city centre of Akureyri. The place is modern and is quite spacious.
As a side comment, the hallway towards the apartments is very cozy.
This hotel is in a decent location in Akureyri, it's close to a nice little bookshop that sells coffee, as well as a few other cafes and restaurants, and it's clean and quiet. I stayed over New Year's and even then there wasn't a lot of noise. A fine place to stay.
Great parking availability and location. Close to excellent restaurants and bars (like R5). Very cool decor and facilities, which were clean and comfy. The staff very very friendly and the breakfast was a great way to start the day.
We loved our stay at Kea Hotel! It is in the perfect location in the middle of downtown. There was free parking close by. We utilized their laundry service which was free and timely! The staff was very helpful and friendly!
The breakfast was not worth the price. I know this is a limited staff hotel but there could be more variety of food and coffee pods that work in the coffee machine in the dining are.
Great location, breakfast is good but you should look at prepaying as it is served in a vey small restaurant which can get booked up by non residents especially for dinner
The room was very average, on the small side. Breakfast was a fine continental breakfast. The hotel is in the center of town, close to restaurants and stores.
I was expecting a typical hotel, but instead I was greeted with an apartment just outside the downtown area. Easily walkable to restaurants and attractions!
