Architecture was amazing! So much to do and see!!

Architecture was amazing! So much to do and see!! 3 days Wasn't enough! We Loved our tour of Cistine Chapel (book way ahead!), but Vatican City needs cleaning, trash removal, power washing of the streets & cobble stones within and around St. Peter's Bascilica. People were friendly and helpful everywhere we went! *You can take the train from the airport & be within walking distance of Vatican City! *Recommend taking the hop on/hop off City Tour buses!

I looked forward to this for a LONG time and was hyped up...

I looked forward to this for a LONG time and was hyped up and excited on the flight to Rome, it quickly turned to tears as Rome is VERY clearly not suited to non Italian tourists and our time in Rome was a total disaster - Taxi's are USELESS (using Uber), they don't arrive wherever you ask them to pick you up, or even when you get to THEIR location - they're not even there and they cancel your journey, this happened 4 times - the final time was when we had a guided tour booked at the sistene Chapel which cost me over £200 and because of their useless taxi we missed our slot and couldn't get refunded, with 'driver cancelled' Taxi's and missed tours we were over £320 out of pocket for issues that were beyond ridiculous. The people around Rome were incredibly rude and that's the STAFF at 'famous' tourist attractions. The taxi drivers are not for sane passengers, as our 3rd taxi attempt (the one that we came across outside the airport) drove us to our apartment at 185kph and probably no less than 10ft from the cars in front - totally NUTS. Food in general out and about isn't anything special, just massively overpriced average to mediocre food, NOT what we mostly hear, is it? Rome was FAR beyond the MOST disorganised city I have EVER visited - no signs for anything you might want to visit and considering you pay a CITY TAX to help towards tourism, its CLEAR that the money is NOT being spent on making Rome a more welcoming city to foreign travellers. Our FIRST and LAST time in Rome.

Rome is amazing, make sure you take comfy shoes as it is all walkable. We have older children (teenagers) and they really enjoyed it too. Definitely try and book tickets for anything you want to see before you go as they can be expensive to source once you are there.

I loved the opportunity to explore on the Hop on Hop Off...

I loved the opportunity to explore on the Hop on Hop Off buses, and capture moments on camera, and then determine places where I would stop off and explore by walking in the neighbourhood. There was a variety of things to do and see, and I thoroughly enjoyed the history, and seeing it in real life. It was easy to walk around Rome, especially in comfortable shoes as the cobblestones could create havoc with heels! The weather in April was delightful, and did not take too much acclimatising. The river was a fabulous focus in photographs as were the buildings and ruins right around the city. There are many must do attractions - so choose which you wish to tour officially, and which you are fine to view from the outside. There are many water sources around the city, and the water is safe to drink, and tastes good too. There are many opportunities to feast around the restaurant, with traditional Italian having been my choice throughout - and the food was well prepared, presented and fairly reasonable in price.

    So many things to see.

So many things to see. However, lots of unsavoury people around. Very busy and recommend booking early slots to visit sights. Husband had phone taken out of buttoned pocket on underground - please try to avoid using it! Also be aware on buses, although we had no issues using them. It is worth a visit. Be safe!

Rome is a great short break location, lots of sights, masses...

Rome is a great short break location, lots of sights, masses of churches, loads of restaurants and bars/cafes/gelatos. Weather is amazing, people are very friendly and lovely. The only major downside is that there are no public toilets, (or none that we saw and we went to virtually every sight you could go to) thousands of people but no toilets, you have to use the restaurants and bars which can sometime be awkward if you are not purchasing anything from there. Major tourist attractions are the worst, especially if you are on a guided tour which works to time schedules. This was a major problem for us on the Collisseum tour as we started in the museum side which only had one female toilet for hundreds of queueing women, besides the small cafe' at the beginning. The min collisseum are was better with more toilets but they do not cater well for disabilities. Vatican was better. more toilets but still a very long queue.

Residenza Maritti is a marvelous hotel. I have stayed here perhaps 20 times in the last 7 years or so, whilst living in Italy. It is quite simply one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. The location is nothing short of spectacular; the staff and owners very kind and helpful; the rooms full of character and history as well as being spotlessly clean; the rooftop terrace has breathtaking views of ancient Rome. When I come to Rome, I always stay at Residenza Maritti. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the Eternal City from.

I usually don’t put reviews on booing.com, but this apartment deserve an exception. The apartment in very good location, where you feel like you’re living in the town, and everything is close. Also, the house has that Italian touch where it has a nice garden with a beautiful and wide living room and nice arts on the wall. Finally, an advise to anyone going Rome, if you want to live the full Italy experience stay in this apartment as it was the best part in our holiday. Big thanks for the friendly owner.

The location is excellent but unlike many 5 star hotels the staff were fantastic - not at all pretentious or pompous but extremely helpful, polite and very down to earth. We are lucky to have experienced many 5 star hotels around the globe but this is one of the best with great facilities, lovely spa staff and an excellent location too! The bar has an extraordinary manager who spoke super English and was extremely hospitable! We regularly travel to Italy and we will definitely stay here again!

If you travel by train, it is convenient, a bit far from classic tourist monuments, if you have good energy to walk, is not a problem. We walked to go and uber to come back. The area looks scary, a bit too dirty, but you have a lot of tourists going by. We stayed in the hotel when we got to italy and when we left, one night each time. I don't think I would stay in this hotel to really visit rome for several days. For a night is more than ok, next to the train station, the staff is very nice!

The location was perfect. It was our first time in Italy and our first stop was Rome. The Trevi Fountain is pretty central to the other landmarks for sight-seeing, so it was not too far of a walk and we could stop back in the hotel throughout the day. The included Breakfast exceeded our expectations, a good spread and you could sit on their rooftop terrace overlooking the Trevi Fountain. It was a bit difficult to locate when we first got there, but otherwise, highly recommend!

The location could not be improved. Everything you could wish to see in Rome is within walking distance. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and neat. The hotel is quiet - remarkably so, given it’s central location. The breakfast is nothing special, but that is normal in Italy. The coffee and pastries are good - because for an Italian that is what counts. If you want an egg white omelette with non gluten toast you really are in the wrong country.

This hotel exceeded our expectations for Rome. We stayed in 12 hotels/farmstays over 4 weeks for our European trip (Holland, Italy, Paris) and this was one was the absolute best value. The bed was in the top 3, the room was very spacious for a major city hotel and the bathtub would have been amazing if it wasn't 36 degrees out. I was tempted to have an ice bath but I had no access to ice.

I stayed here only for a night to reach the airport quickly in the morning. Termini station is only a 3-minute walk away and you can easily travel somewhere else in Italy or go to Fiumicino airport. Besides the bathroom that had a really bad smell, the place felt quite clean. This is place is a decent option only for a short stay. I wouldn’t recommend this for a vacation in Rome.

It’s what you expect from Rome, Italy! I loved the location, the corner florist, full of many restaurants and close to all the points of attraction in Rome, charming and romantic with a dreamy bohemian air. I would stay there every time I went to Rome.

The breakfast was better than all hotels we stayed in Italy. I had fractured my ankle in Florence before arriving to Rome. I was wheelchair bound and The staff was so accommodating and friendly.
